For Bethy's wedding I decided to try out 3D nail art.  It was terribly flashy and a hindrance, but really neat looking.  I hated the nail glue I used since it bled into my cuticles and crusted there.  Plus it was so difficult to get off!  However, I do love the way these look and they were such statement nails.  Terribly crazy.

Gosh, I don't even really remember what polish colors I used...I think it was all Sinful Colors though.

Since Janelle came home, we did a polish exchange (I handed over her Whimsies while she slipped me my Windestine) and I just had to test out Windestine's Hearts of the Forest.  My mom actually swatched it on herself right after I showed it to her--the glittery goodness was just too difficult to resist!  Anywho, the reason Janelle bought this for me is because Windestine, like Sonoma Nail Art, does not ship to Hawaii.  Understandable since I've done research on shipping and whatnot.  So, like the amazing friend she is, she bought it for me and brought it back with her.  Sadly this mani is still barely hanging on as I'm having serious issues with lifting these days--my nails are just too long!  Between work and home, my nails take a beating shock wise with typing  coupled with other things.  I swear, I was wiping a dish yesterday and accidentally caught my nail on it and the polish near my cuticle just popped up.  /sigh  I have these issues and I cannot wait to cut my nails shorter next week.  I mean, I like the way they look long, but the impracticality of them is driving me crazy!

Gorgeous, right?  I layered it over OPI's Did It On 'Em from the Nicki Minaj collection (and I would never wear that base color alone).

I'm seriously in love with Mallard by Candeo Colors.  I know I said that I was in love with it pre-wear, but wearing it makes me love it even more!  The sheer shimmer base and smaller sized glitters make this polish subtle.  I applied two coats of Mallard over 3 coats of OPI's Moonlight Over Mumbai to get what you see below.  For a more subtle mani, put only one coat of Mallard--it goes a long way over  a creme base!

Ah, yeah I don't think I'll be doing this nail art technique for a long while...it took forever!  I used striping glitter tape to make the lines (just make sure your base color is completely dry before doing this!  I painted mine the night before.).  It's incredibly gorgeous and really subtle.  In indoor lighting it looks like one color with some interesting depth, but in the sunlight it's killer.  Completely love!  I do have to admit, though, that when I was doing it I was meong (멍)-ing out (meong = 'blank' in Korean).  It was oddly therapeutic.

Warning: This post is extremely image heavy!

After [personal profile] these_ordinary_days sent me pictures of her water marbling (so pretty!) I decided to just test some color combinations.  I did these right over my OPI DS Magic mani in the last post.  It didn't come out too bad...but it reminded me of why I hate water marbling.  It's super messy.  I didn't bother to tape off the area around my nails since I was just going to remove the mani anyway...but, ugh.  So messy!

I used all holographic polishes.  The first three are Enchanted Polish's Awesomeness and Gummy Worm while the last one is a England's Bridal Veil, Saint George, and Lady of the Lake.

OPI DS Magic - 3D nails

I've recently been testing out some 3D nail stuff I bought and it's been going pretty well...still getting used to stuff being on my nails though.  This past week was especially rough at work--SO. MUCH. RUSHING.  This coming week isn't going to slow down either.  Anywho, I decided to wear my favorite blue to cheer me up.  Sadly it kind of died after I spent the whole day packing and unpacking books, moving boxes, and sorting through piles of stuff.  The flower on my right index finger got pulled off during a map-rolling incident.  Although that wasn't until the end of the day...but still.  These lasted pretty long considering the day before (4th of July) I had my hands in water for about an hour and a half as I cleaned and rearranged my fish tank.  Honestly, I just touched up the tips and glued the flower back on instead of changing my polish since Friday was the end of the week.  These pics are actually the retouched version of this mani--amazing, huh? ^^

Ah...here's a mani that I'm dubbing "The Queen of SJ's Hearts."  It was completely unintentional to make it into a K-pop mani, but I waslistening to SJ's new album and felt inspired.  I'm still getting used to using my dotting tools for doing lettering so...yeah.  I was pretty muchexperimenting. ^^

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Savage
  • Once Upon A Polish - Queen of Hearts
  • OPI - Alpine Snow (lettering)
  • OPI - Black Onyx (shadow)
  • OPI - Last Friday Night (glitter on white lettering)
  • OPI - DS Magic (dark blue lettering)

The final (and current) nails of this week involved me testing out Enchanted Polish's Octopus's Garden.  I have to admit I was reluctant to put it on after the fiasco Green Goblin caused (Chelsea is sending me Marge's Blue Beehive to replace my GG!).  However, after [personal profile] these_ordinary_days told me she was wearing OG and that it was gorgeous...I was sold.  I decided to do something really fun since I have length to play with and because I finally got in my dotting tool set.  ^^   Also, to save on my EPs I decided to layer it over black (2 coats) after I made a sizable dent in Across the Universe through building it up.  This polish is so gorgeous and unique!  A deep purple holo that flashes pink and orange?  SOLD.

Colors Used:
  • OPI - Black Onyx (base & dots)
  • OPI - Alpine Snow
  • Enchanted Polish - Octopus's Garden (base)
  • Enchanted Polish - Awesomeness (purple dots)

Green Jelly Sammich

After the ocean nails died I decided to give another go at wearing my electric green jelly polish (I had attempted it, but it was involved in a fatal smearing accident).  I swear, just between swatches and wearing it twice (one and a half?) a good portion of it is gone.   Anywho, I decided to layer some glitter in there for depth. ^^  Sadly these died after a really hard day of packing.

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Irish Green
  • Lush Lacquer - Flippin Out (previously known as Dippin Dots)

Ugh, it's been another hard week at work and my nails took quite the beating between their length, book packing, moving, and all other sorts of fun hands-on things.  The polish changed three times this week due to boxes completely killing my electric green jelly nails (the next post to come).  But, all-in-all, redoing my nails has been quite therapeutic and a great way to de-stress after a long day at work.

So that "treat" I got from Walgreen's immediately went on my nails.  And since I had also gotten my polish in from KBShimmer, I wanted to use that too.  The result--Ocean nails!

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Cinderella
  • KBShimmer - Shipwreck
Now I'm moving on to posting the jelly nails...
